PPP’s leader Dr. Asim meets Governor Tissori while PPP’s Raza Haroon spells barbs for same, MQM-P silent over Haroon’s dare

KARACHI: In a bid to foster better relations, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has taken proactive steps by conveying a significant message from Dr. Asim Hussain to Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori.
Dr. Asim Hussain, a prominent PPP leader, held a meeting with Governor Tessori at the Governor House, during which he conveyed warm Eid greetings. The meeting served as a platform for discussions on various projects aimed at promoting the welfare and development of the people of Sindh, along with addressing other matters of mutual interest. This gesture underscores the PPP’s commitment to constructive dialogue and collaboration, signaling a positive step towards enhancing cooperation for the betterment of the province and its residents.
Raza Haroon, a prominent figure within the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) for its alleged failure to defend Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, labeling it as a contributing factor to Pakistan’s challenges. Responding to MQM’s statements, Haroon dismissed them as baseless and detached from reality, emphasizing that MQM Pakistan is currently grappling with internal discord.
Haroon further accused MQM Pakistan of engaging in political maneuvering, particularly in relation to the nomination of the Sindh Governor, alleging that the party is leveraging its position to extract concessions from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The criticism for Governor Kamran Tessori’s performance by Waqar Mehdi, General Secretary of PPP Sindh, was reiterated by Haroon, who highlighted Mehdi’s assertion that Tessori failed to foster consensus and instead exacerbated divisions.
In response, MQM Pakistan deemed Mehdi’s remarks as unnecessary and lacking seriousness in the prevailing circumstances. MQM-P leaders also questioned Mehdi’s standing within the PPP, characterizing it as superficial and ornamental. The exchange highlights the political tensions and maneuvering within Sindh, underscoring the complex dynamics at play in the region’s political landscape.
