Sindh govt to address issue of street crimes in Karachi, where LEAs are actively engaged in restoring writ

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has attributed the deteriorating law and order situation in the province to the policies and actions of the previous government, citing widespread mismanagement and questionable appointments within the law enforcement hierarchy.

In a candid conversation with journalists, Shah expressed concerns over the systemic issues plaguing the province’s security apparatus, laying blame on the previous administration for exacerbating these challenges.

Highlighting the alleged nepotism and favoritism rampant within the previous government’s approach to security appointments, Shah criticized the frequent shuffling of officials, likening it to a familial arrangement rather than a strategic deployment of resources. He emphasized that the arbitrary transfers and reassignments of senior police officials had contributed to the emergence of security vulnerabilities across the province.

Shah underscored the magnitude of the task at hand, acknowledging that rectifying the systemic deficiencies inherited from the previous administration would require time and concerted efforts. Despite the formidable challenges, Shah affirmed the commitment of the provincial government to address the pressing issue of street crimes in Karachi, where law enforcement agencies are actively engaged in restoring order.

With a focus on enhancing security measures and bolstering law enforcement presence in key areas, Shah assured that police and Rangers personnel deployed in sensitive locales, including Kutcha Area, would soon exert control over the prevailing security situation. The Chief Minister’s remarks reflect a sense of urgency and determination to confront the security challenges head-on, signaling a proactive stance in tackling crime and restoring public confidence in the province’s security apparatus.

As efforts to streamline security operations and address systemic shortcomings continue, Shah’s administration faces the formidable task of navigating complex administrative issues while ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens. The Chief Minister’s candid assessment of the situation underscores the need for transparency, accountability, and decisive action in reforming the province’s law enforcement infrastructure and restoring law and order.
