SUKKUR: Assistant Commissioner Arslan Hyder Phulpoto has taken decisive action by sealing two petrol pumps and five brick companies operating illegally and violating environmental standards. This operation was conducted under the directives of the Sindh Home Department and aimed at addressing the rampant sale of substandard petrol and breaches of environmental regulations.
The petrol pumps, namely Nawab Petrol Pump and New Khan Petrol Pump, were found to be operating without the necessary licenses and were reportedly selling low-quality fuel. This prompted immediate action, highlighting the administration’s commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining quality standards in fuel services.
In addition to the petrol pumps, the Assistant Commissioner carried out surprise inspections of local brick kilns, resulting in the sealing of five companies, including those owned by Zubair Memon, Nadeem Memon, Zaffar Memon, and Bismillah Company. Each of these brick companies was fined Rs 15,000 for violating the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. Notably, two owners from these companies were also arrested, underscoring the seriousness of the violations.
The crackdown also extended to labor law enforcement, with collaborative efforts involving the labor department, police, and representatives from the EPA. This integrated approach aims to ensure compliance not only with environmental standards but also with labor rights and protections.
