KARACHI: The Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, hosted the launch of renowned writer Bashir Sadozai’s latest travelogue, “Roshni Kay Taaqob Mein”, offering readers a literary journey through Türkiye. The ceremony took place at Haseena Moin Hall, presided over by eminent researcher and critic Professor Dr. Moinuddin Aqeel, with Dr. Nigar Sajjad Zaheer attending as the chief guest.
The event brought together prominent literary figures, including poet Feroz Natiq Khusro, Dr. Rana Khalid Mahmood Qaiser, Dr. Iftikhar Malik, Professor Raziya Subhan, Munawar Rajput, and Sadaf Aram Kabir. In his presidential address, Professor Dr. Aqeel reflected on the historical significance of the Khilafat Movement and the lasting influence of the Ottoman Caliphate on the subcontinent’s culture, literature, and collective mindset. He praised Sadozai’s work for its keen observation, narrative depth, and refined style, noting it stands apart from conventional travel writing.
Chief guest Dr. Zaheer highlighted the rich tradition of travel writing in Urdu, tracing its origins back nearly two centuries, and remarked that Sadozai’s travelogue immerses readers in Türkiye as if they are journeying there themselves. Dr. Iftikhar Malik described the book as a detailed account of Turkish history, culture, and social life, covering six to seven cities and offering references to Pakistan and Karachi, making it a valuable resource for students and researchers alike.
Poet Feroz Natiq Khusro noted that the travelogue, dedicated to “Mother Dear,” spans 115 chapters and vividly narrates Istanbul’s Sultan Ahmed area, detailing architecture, palaces, cuisine, tea culture, and everyday life, showcasing Sadozai’s literary craftsmanship.
The launch was widely praised for celebrating not only a remarkable travelogue but also the enduring link between literature, history, and cultural exploration.
