KARACHI: Muhajir Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) Chairman Afaq Ahmed has said that the day marks a renewed pledge to the Muhajir ideology and a reminder of the sacrifices made by thousands of young people who gave their lives for the identity.
In a meeting held at his residence on the occasion of the party’s 42nd founding anniversary, attended by zonal and district committee members, he praised workers for organising iftar and sehri gatherings across the city during Ramadan.

He said that unity among the Muhajir community was essential and urged people to set aside personal differences and work collectively under a shared platform to strengthen their political and social presence.
Referring to political developments, he criticised statements about the possibility of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan leaving the government, calling them “ironic”, and claimed that those who cannot win local elections were brought into power through questionable means. He said such political actors could not make decisions without the approval of their “handlers”.
Afaq Ahmed also said that calls to hand over Karachi to the federation were driven by external interests, and argued that the community had not been given its due share in resources and authority. He added that if resources were properly accounted for, people would not have to seek their rights repeatedly.
He urged party workers to intensify public outreach and raise awareness among the community, saying that the survival and strength of the Muhajir community depended on unity and the spread of its ideology.
