HOUSTON: Renowned Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shahzad stated that the national cricket team has dropped to seventh place in the world rankings, attributing the decline to unfair team selection and a lack of accountability. He made these remarks while speaking to the Pakistani-American media at a fundraising event organized by Darul Uloom, the largest religious institution in the U.S., held in Houston. The event was also attended by national cricket team’s fast bowler Haris Rauf. The report is filed by special correspondent Amjad Qaimkhani from Houston.
The fundraising event, organized by Darul Uloom New York in Houston, Texas, attracted many philanthropists from the city. Shafiq Khan, head of Darul Uloom, highlighted the institution’s financial challenges and praised the national cricketers for their commitment, as they came directly from the airport after a long journey from Pakistan. Addressing the media, Ahmed Shahzad emphasized that one of the reasons for the decline in the cricket team’s global ranking is the lack of accountability. He mentioned that the promises made by the Chairman of the Cricket Board, including reforms, have yet to be fulfilled.
When asked about the new captain for the national team, Shahzad expressed that there is no visionary leader capable of leading the team since the Cricket Board has failed to prepare one.
