KARACHI: Students from the BS Artificial Intelligence and B.E Tech Robotics & Artificial Intelligence programs undertook a study tour to “Geeks of Kolachi” in Karachi on 17 February 2026, gaining first-hand exposure to a professional software development environment.
The visit offered a rare opportunity for emerging technologists to observe the inner workings of a leading tech hub and to interact directly with industry experts on the cutting edge of Artificial Intelligence (AI). During the tour, the students were introduced to the practical applications of AI and robotics in real-world scenarios, from automated systems to intelligent data analysis.
Experts highlighted not only the rapid advancements in the field but also the accompanying challenges and ethical considerations, emphasizing the need for responsible innovation as the technology becomes increasingly embedded in daily life. The visiting students were also guided on the diverse career pathways available after graduation.
Speakers detailed opportunities in AI development, data science, machine learning engineering, robotics, and software engineering, underscoring the growing demand for skilled professionals capable of translating theoretical knowledge into practical solutions.
Several industry leaders encouraged the students to focus on adaptability, problem-solving, and continuous learning, framing these as essential skills for navigating a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Academia–industry interactions such as this tour are widely regarded as vital in bridging the gap between classroom instruction and professional practice. The study tour concluded with an interactive session, where students asked questions, shared ideas, and reflected on how they could apply lessons learned to future projects.
