Aleema Khan underscores the extensive support her brother garners, both domestically and internationally, saying millions of Pakistanis and Muslims around the world pray for him every day
LAHORE: Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has made startling allegations regarding a potential plot to eliminate her brother while he is incarcerated. In a social media post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday, Khan suggested that Imran Khan is facing a serious threat to his life, reminiscent of the circumstances surrounding the death of Egypt’s former president Mohamed Morsi in 2019.
Aleema Khan claimed that credible sources have informed her family of a scheme to assassinate Imran Khan while he remains imprisoned. “Our family would like to address those behind this plot. Look at history and understand what happened to the Pharaohs and others who employed similar strategies. Under General Bajwa’s tenure, there was an attempt on Imran Khan’s life in Wazirabad. During General Asim Munir’s tenure, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) took control of the Islamabad Judicial Complex, preparing to eliminate him. So why is he still alive? Because the decision of life and death rests solely with Allah Almighty,” she wrote.
She also underscored the extensive support her brother garners, both domestically and internationally. “Millions of Pakistanis and Muslims around the world pray for him every day. We love him, and Pakistan needs him,” Khan stated. Despite facing numerous legal challenges, she argued that Imran Khan has been acquitted of all charges but remains behind bars.
Aleema Khan further alleged that the ISI currently controls Adiala Jail, where her brother is held. “Can you explain to the millions praying for his release why Imran Khan believes there is a plan to finish him off in jail, just as they did with Morsi in Egypt?” she questioned in her post. These claims by Aleema Khan have stirred concern among PTI supporters and the public. However, there has been no official response from authorities or confirmation regarding her allegations.
