ALGIERS: The sports world is in turmoil following the leak of a medical report concerning Algerian boxer Iman Khalif. The report, which has circulated in foreign media, reveals that the 25-year-old athlete is biologically male. Khalif, who won a gold medal in women’s boxing at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, has been the center of media attention due to her physical appearance.
In the wake of this revelation, calls have emerged on social media for the Olympic Committee to revoke her gold medal. Reports indicate that the leaked medical documents include various medical references that contribute to this controversy.
Notably, during the women’s boxing event at the Paris Olympics, Italian boxer Angela Carini refused to compete against Khalif just 46 seconds into their first round. Carini cited a sense of injustice, claiming that Khalif did not meet the standards expected of a female competitor.
