SOUTH WAZIRISTAN:: Reports have emerged of serious irregularities and alleged nepotism in teacher recruitments under the PTC fund in Upper South Waziristan, raising concerns among social and educational circles.
Sources say that for these short-term, four-month teacher appointments, a committee—including the school chairman and secretary—was supposed to oversee selections, with approval from relevant ASDEO and SDO officials. However, no merit lists were issued and no interviews conducted this time.
Allegations suggest influential individuals were favored, with some PTC committee secretaries reportedly signing documents fraudulently. There are also claims that in certain schools, appointments were decided through bidding, with officials approving applications of those offering more incentives—raising serious questions about integrity in the education sector.
The newly appointed DEO Female Upper South Waziristan, Ghulam Fatima, is reportedly being kept unaware, with claims that the hires were made under the previous DEO. In reality, no transparent merit lists were issued under either administration.
Social and educational circles have demanded immediate action from the Provincial Education Minister Arshad Ayub, Secretary Education, Director Education, Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan, and Deputy Commissioners of the region.
Public appeals urge DEO Ghulam Fatima to investigate thoroughly, ensure appointments are made on merit, and take strict legal action against any wrongdoing to restore transparency and credibility in the education department.
