ISLAMABAD: In a recent informal discussion with journalists at Adiala Jail, PTI founder Imran Khan shed light on various aspects of the party’s strategy and political dynamics. Khan revealed that the PTI had postponed its public gathering scheduled for August 8 to prevent a recurrence of the chaos witnessed on May 9. He indicated that this decision was made to avert another situation akin to the unrest of May 9. Khan also made a provocative statement regarding PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, claiming that Sharif had his backpack ready for a flight to London, implying that he was prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.

The comment was made in the context of political tensions and ongoing controversies involving the ruling party. Addressing the planned September 8 rally, Khan issued a stern warning, stating that if anyone tried to obstruct the event, they would face severe consequences. He further instructed PTI workers to remain undeterred by any potential obstacles on the day of the rally. In a significant declaration, Khan demanded an open trial for retired General Faiz Hameed, asserting his position as the head of the largest political party in Pakistan. He emphasized the need for transparency in legal proceedings involving prominent figures.

When questioned about a meeting message sent to Azam Swati the previous night, Khan suggested deferring the discussion to a later time. He concluded his remarks by alluding to the internal fears within the PML-N, suggesting that their apparent distractions were indicative of their apprehensions about engaging with the PTI and the broader political establishment. Khan’s comments reflect the ongoing turbulence in Pakistani politics, marked by intense party rivalries and heightened public scrutiny. The postponement of the rally and his demands for an open trial underline the escalating political and legal challenges faced by his party.
