ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed concern after reports emerged that anti-Pakistan chants were recited during a passing-out parade at an Afghan police academy, raising alarms over regional security.
According to sources, the chants included provocative lines calling for setting Islamabad on fire and planting flags in Lahore, accompanied by strongly hostile language against Pakistan. The incident has sparked questions in diplomatic circles and heightened anxieties within Pakistan’s security establishment. Officials noted that this follows earlier threats from Afghan Taliban Minister Noorullah Nuri on 7 November, targeting Sindh and Punjab, while Taliban-affiliated digital media accounts have repeatedly threatened suicide attacks in Islamabad. Security experts warn that such rhetoric could further strain Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and increase the risk of cross-border terrorism.
