KARACHI: Police in Karachi’s Malir district have arrested a three-member gang accused of snatching mobile phones and laptops from citizens at gunpoint.
According to Malir police, Shah Latif police carried out a technical operation that led to the arrest of the suspects, who were allegedly involved in armed street crimes targeting the public.
The police said the suspects operated mainly in areas surrounding the Mehran Highway and the National Highway, where they carried out multiple robberies. During interrogation, the arrested men reportedly confessed to involvement in several incidents of street crime.
A large cache of stolen items was recovered from their possession, including mobile phones of various brands such as iPhone and Samsung. Police said they seized more than 40 mobile phones, two pistols with ammunition, four laptops and looted cash.
The suspects were identified as Sagar, also known as Shebi, Shehbaz and Allah Dino. A case has been registered against them and further investigation is under way, while their previous criminal records are also being checked.
