In a resolute address at the Azadi Parade at the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, Army Chief General Asim Munir reaffirmed the unwavering bond between the nation and its armed forces, underscoring that the trust and love of the people are the military’s most invaluable assets. He asserted with confidence that no force, now or in the future, can weaken this sacred bond. As the country celebrates its Independence Day, General Munir extended heartfelt congratulations to all Pakistanis, highlighting the significance of Pakistan’s ideological foundation rooted in the Two-Nation Theory, which has granted the Muslims of the subcontinent a distinct identity, culture, and civilization. Pakistan, he emphasized, was not only created to survive but to attain a prominent position on the global stage. General Asim Munir’s speech also addressed the persistent threat of terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the resurgence of extremist groups has once again posed a challenge to the state’s security. Referring to these extremists as “Khawarij”—a term historically used for those who deviate from mainstream Islam—he reiterated that those who do not respect Islamic law or the Constitution of Pakistan cannot be considered true Pakistanis. His statement reflects the military’s steadfast stance against those who defy the country’s laws and undermine its institutions.
The Army Chief also touched on broader issues of loyalty and patriotism, making it clear that individuals or groups working against the interests of Pakistan, whether domestically or on foreign soil, cannot be deemed patriots. He criticized those who dishonor state institutions and contribute to their ridicule on social media, often acting as facilitators for foreign agendas. Such elements, he declared, cannot be loyal to the country and are, in fact, a source of significant problems for the nation. Driven by personal interests, these individuals inflict serious harm on the state. General Munir’s comments come at a time when Pakistan’s northern regions, particularly Balochistan, are grappling with a resurgence of terrorism. The Army Chief explicitly identified India and its puppet Kabul administration as the main culprits behind this wave of violence, accusing them of exploiting their domestic facilitators to threaten Pakistan’s security. This clear and unequivocal stance serves as a reminder of the ongoing threat posed by hostile neighbors who are determined to destabilize Pakistan through their proxies.
The Army Chief’s vow to defend the country against both internal and external threats is a powerful testament to the military’s commitment to protecting the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan. The challenges posed by terrorism, fueled by external actors and their local collaborators, require a firm and unyielding response. The nation’s security forces, under General Munir’s leadership, are prepared to confront these challenges with an iron fist, ensuring that those who seek to harm Pakistan, whether from within or beyond its borders, are dealt with decisively. As Pakistan marks another year of independence, General Munir’s message serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle to maintain the country’s security and stability. The fight against terrorism and the defense of the nation’s ideological and territorial integrity remain at the forefront of the military’s mission, embodying the relentless dedication of the armed forces to safeguard Pakistan’s future.
