PESHAWAR: A devastating fire has claimed the lives of five individuals at a residence for devotees of a shrine in the Rustam area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The blaze erupted at a building on a hilltop near Bagh-e-Jibran, with the exact cause still under investigation. Rescue officials responded promptly, and firefighters worked to contain the inferno. The bodies of the victims were recovered and transferred to a local hospital for identification and further processing.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined at this time. In a related development, SSP Korangi Tohidur Rahman has taken stringent action following a recent fire incident caused by an illegal fuel station in Shah Faisal Colony No. 3. The fire, which resulted in significant property damage and loss of life, led to the suspension of SHO Shah Faisal Colony, Inspector Gul Hasan Kalhoro. Kalhoro has been reassigned to the police headquarters East district pending further investigation into his alleged negligence.
The SSP has mandated an inquiry into the incident, appointing Yaseen Gujjar, the director of the SSP Complaint Cell, as the inquiry officer. Gujjar has been instructed to submit his report within three days. The fire at the illegal fuel station resulted in the death of a citizen, destruction of several flats, shops, and motorcycles, highlighting the severe consequences of such hazardous setups. Both incidents underscore the critical need for stringent safety measures and regulatory enforcement to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
