LAHORE: Muhammad Aurangzeb urged senior civil service officers to embrace a forward-looking and solutions-oriented mindset during a lecture at the National School of Public Policy (NSPP), Pakistan Administrative Staff College in Lahore on Friday.
Speaking as part of the “Strategic Policy Dialogue,” an initiative designed to foster direct engagement between national leadership and top bureaucrats, the finance minister outlined his vision for Pakistan’s economic trajectory and stressed the critical role of institutional resilience in managing complex policy challenges.
Aurangzeb highlighted the importance of strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making, emphasizing that coordinated action across ministries was essential to addressing pressing issues such as fiscal sustainability, energy sector reform, and climate resilience. He described these challenges not merely as technical problems but as interconnected policy questions requiring careful sequencing of reforms and clear prioritization.
The interactive session encouraged officers to engage in candid dialogue on policy trade-offs, reform sequencing, and the implications of the evolving global economic environment. Officials said participants were urged to consider both short-term stabilization measures and long-term structural reforms, underscoring the necessity of adaptability and evidence-based policy in an increasingly uncertain international and domestic context.
The lecture, sources said, was part of a broader effort by the government to bridge the gap between policy formulation and implementation, ensuring that civil servants at the highest levels are equipped with the analytical frameworks and strategic insight necessary to translate national economic priorities into practical outcomes.
