QUETTA: A high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti reviewed the law and order situation and the repatriation of Afghan refugees in the province.
Officials provided detailed briefings on security conditions, the return of Afghan refugees, and efforts to curb hawala-hundi, extortion, and smuggling.
The meeting decided to deploy around 3,000 Federal Constabulary personnel in the first phase, comprising two wings of the force, to help maintain peace in Balochistan. It also called for a more active role for the Federal Investigation Agency in the province and the filling of all vacant posts with local recruits.
Participants agreed to strengthen monitoring of anti-state activities on social media and accelerate action against those spreading baseless propaganda against the state. The federal government assured full cooperation to maintain law and order in the province.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the federal government would provide all possible support to enhance the professional capacity of the police, adding that authorities are fully aware of the situation and committed to ensuring peace.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti stressed that combating terrorism is a collective responsibility of the nation and reaffirmed that the writ of the state would be upheld at all costs. He noted that no highway in Balochistan is currently blocked in the name of protest.
Both leaders emphasized that terrorism will be defeated through national unity.
