PESHAWAR: Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Adviser to the Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has declared that a referendum against the federal government will be held today. This announcement is expected to escalate the political pressure on the federal administration. In a media briefing, Barrister Saif emphasized the significance of the referendum and the accompanying rally in Swabi. He described the event as a pivotal moment in the campaign against the federal government, underscoring the belief that Pakistan’s progress is contingent upon the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Saif argued that Khan’s return to power is essential for the nation’s advancement.
Saif sharply criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), accusing the party of compromising national interests by allegedly succumbing to the demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and imposing Independent Power Producers (IPPs) on the public. He contended that these actions have left the country vulnerable and exacerbated economic challenges. Further, Saif accused the federal government of lacking a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism and claimed that the PML-N has been ineffective in addressing the nation’s crises.
He argued that the party’s governance has failed to meet the country’s needs and that elections are the only solution to remove what he termed as “mandate thieves.” Saif reiterated PTI’s commitment to pursuing genuine freedom, upholding the constitution, and ensuring the rule of law. The referendum is seen as a strategic move by PTI to rally public support and intensify pressure on the current federal government amid ongoing political and economic challenges.
