DADU: The case of 64,485 missing wheat bags, valued at over Rs643 million, from the Bholari warehouse has taken a dramatic twist after a video statement by the absconding warehouse in-charge, Ali Raza Brohi, went viral.
In the video, Brohi accused senior officials, including the Food Secretary and a former MNA, of corruption and demanded a transparent inquiry. Ali Raza Brohi, who assumed charge of the warehouse on October 25, 2025, claimed that the wheat had not been weighed at the time of his takeover.
He alleged that during the wheat release in December, Food Secretary Ghulam Abbas Naich and Deputy Director Qamaruddin Memon demanded a bribe of Rs 100 million, and upon his refusal, he faced threats of removal. Brohi stated that an initial counting of wheat conducted in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, Anti-Corruption officials, and Assistant Commissioner found no shortage.
However, a sudden shortage was later reported, leading to a case being registered against him. He further alleged collusion between Deputy Director Qamaruddin Memon, Aslam Memon, and Anti-Corruption officer Zeeshan Memon in framing the case.
In his statement, Brohi also implicated former MNA Sikandar Raheepoto and claimed that the officers involved in wheat counting had prior corruption allegations. He expressed concern that over 100,000 additional bags may have been removed from the warehouse during the night.
Anti-Corruption Assistant Director Zeeshan Memon confirmed the arrest of Food Inspector Allah Dino Memon in connection with the case, while cases have also been registered against DFC Naveed Tahir and warehouse in-charge Ali Raza Brohi.
Brohi demanded a fair and impartial investigation and announced that he would return to the warehouse on Monday to present his side. Calls and messages to Food Secretary Muhammad Abbas Naich and former MNA Sikandar Raheepoto went unanswered.
This development raises fresh questions over accountability in the management of public grain reserves and has intensified public scrutiny of the officials involved.
