SUKKUR: In a strong reaffirmation of solidarity with the Kashmiri people, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), issued a heartfelt message as Pakistan and Kashmir marked Black Day on October 27. This day commemorates the tragic beginning of the Indian occupation of Kashmir in 1947. According to a press release from the Media Cell at Bilawal House, the Chairman condemned the ongoing human rights violations and systemic oppression faced by those in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) who are merely seeking their fundamental rights and freedoms.
Bilawal emphasized that Pakistan stands firmly with the Kashmiri people in their quest for self-determination, a right recognized by numerous United Nations resolutions. He stated, “Their right to self-determination is a human right that must not be denied through force or injustice.” He called on the international community to take decisive action to restore peace and justice in the region, which has long endured suffering.
The Chairman also underscored the PPP’s historical commitment to the Kashmir cause, paying tribute to the party’s founding leaders. He recalled the legacy of Quaid-i-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whose unwavering advocacy for Kashmir has left an indelible mark, and he acknowledged the relentless efforts of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who consistently amplified the voices of Kashmiris on global platforms.
Bilawal highlighted the significant role of former President Asif Ali Zardari in bringing the Kashmir issue to the forefront during his first tenure, emphasizing his tireless efforts to advocate for the rights of the Kashmiri people internationally. He affirmed that President Zardari remains resolute in advancing this vital cause. In his message, he urged all Pakistanis to unite in solidarity with the Kashmiri people, encouraging them to raise their voices against the injustices faced by the region’s inhabitants.
Chairman Bilawal called for a just and peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict, aligned with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and under the auspices of the United Nations. The PPP, he assured, is steadfast in honoring the sacrifices and struggles of Kashmiris and is committed to continuing to advocate for their rights on every national and international platform. Through these efforts, the party aims to ensure that the plight of the Kashmiri people remains at the forefront of political discourse, both within Pakistan and beyond.
