KARACHI: Karachi witnessed a series of tragic incidents over the past 24 hours, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including an 11-month-old girl, and the discovery of five bodies across various locations. In a heart-wrenching incident in Azizabad, FB Area Block 3, Bantwa Town, an infant named Inayat, daughter of Bilal, was killed by an accidental discharge of a firearm.
According to SHO Imran Afridi, Bilal was cleaning his licensed 9mm pistol around 3:20 a.m. when the weapon accidentally fired, striking Inayat in the head. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Bilal’s wife has confirmed the accidental nature of the shooting, and the couple, who have been married for two years, reportedly had no known issues. Bilal, a mobile phone repair technician, has been taken into custody for further questioning.
In a separate incident, a young man was fatally shot near the Afghan Basti Betul Mukaram Mosque on the Northern Bypass within the jurisdiction of the Gulshan-e-Mimar Police Station. Details regarding the victim and the motive behind the shooting are currently under investigation. In addition, five bodies were discovered across different areas of Karachi, including the decomposed body of 70-year-old Saber, son of Suleman, was found in a house near FB Area Block 9 Lal Shahbaz Society. A 50-year-old unidentified man’s body was recovered from the footpath near the Habib Bank Chowrangi Railway Booking Office.
The body of a 45-year-old unidentified man was discovered on the footpath near Goleimar Chowrangi Malah Halwai. A 65-year-old unidentified man’s body was found on the footpath near Kemari Gate No. 1. A 50-year-old unidentified man’s body was located on the footpath near Ali Mosque, Kala Pul Tal Wali Gali. The causes of death and identities of the deceased are yet to be determined. All bodies have been transferred to government hospitals for formal procedures and identification. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding each death.
