KARACHI: Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution (SESSI) was set to be completely digitized, with the attendance and salary system for its employees operated through a biometric system, Commissioner Hadi Bakhsh Kalhoro announced.

SESSI organized a consultative meeting with representatives of various labor organizations to strengthen coordination and engagement with workers. The gathering also aimed to raise awareness about measures taken by Sindh Social Security to protect employees and their dependents through medical and financial benefits, while seeking suggestions to further improve SESSI’s facilities.

The meeting was chaired by Commissioner Kalhoro and attended by Vice Commissioner Sikandar Baloch, Medical Advisor Saadat Memon, Director of Contribution & Benefits Dr. Ghulam Dastgir, Deputy Director Wasim Jamal, Director of Engineering Wasim Ahmed, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pervez Soomro, and Director IT Hamid Ali, among others. Earlier, Dr. Dastgir presented an overview of SESSI’s performance and ongoing revamping initiatives, also outlining corporate best practices being adopted to improve institutional efficiency.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Kalhoro said efforts were underway to digitize SESSI as soon as possible. He noted that biometric attendance systems had already been introduced for employees working in social security hospitals and field circles. He added that all relevant institutional information would be made available through SESSI’s new website to ensure transparency and enhance service delivery.

The meeting was also attended by Chairman Labor Bureau Sindh Habibuddin Junaidi, Deputy General Secretary of the Trade Union Federation Riaz Abbasi, President of the National Labor Federation Karachi Khalid Khan, Irshad Ali Bhasho, Khawaja Mubashir, PILAR Directors Abbas Haider and Farhan, Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum General Secretary Saeed Baloch, ICU General Secretary Qamarul Hassan, Ecnec Chairman Shakeel Yamin Kanga, and other labor leaders.
