SUKKUR: Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University (BNBWU) Sukkur, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, participated in the 7th CPA Asia Regional Conference and the 2nd Joint CPA Asia & South-East Asia Regional Conference 2026, held at the Sindh Provincial Assembly in Karachi from 3 to 7 February.
The University’s presence was facilitated through the invitation of the Sindh Assembly Speaker, Syed Awais Qadir Shah. BNBWU set up a dedicated exhibition stall highlighting its academic, research, and innovation initiatives. A key feature was an AI-enabled drone system for precision pesticide spraying in date palm and banana plantations, showcasing the University’s commitment to smart agriculture and environmental sustainability.
The University also presented four European Union-funded research projects, conducted in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee, focusing on maternal malnutrition in Sindh. An AI and Machine Learning-based mobile application for early diagnosis of malnutrition, developed by BNBWU faculty and students, drew significant attention for its community impact and practical relevance.
The stall was visited by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah, Provincial Home Minister Zia ul Hassan Lanjar, and delegations from the National, Punjab, and Balochistan Assemblies. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah commended the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj and BNBWU’s contributions to research, innovation, and women’s empowerment, while Speaker Awais Qadir Shah praised the University’s academic progress and the efforts of faculty and students.
