SUKKUR: Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University hosted a two-day book fair this week, aiming to promote reading and academic engagement among students and faculty. Organized in collaboration with Al Fatah Book Palace, the event was part of the university’s ongoing efforts to foster intellectual activity beyond the classroom, a focus repeatedly emphasized by Vice-Chancellor Tehmina Nangraj.
The fair showcased a diverse collection of materials, including academic textbooks, research publications, competitive examination guides, literary works, and general reading resources. Students and staff flocked to the stalls in large numbers, reflecting what organizers described as a growing appetite for knowledge and a commitment to strengthening academic foundations.
The event provided participants with opportunities not only to access study materials but also to explore broader perspectives and cultivate informed viewpoints. Coordinated by the university’s librarian, Imran Ahmed Khokhar, the arrangements ensured wide participation and smooth operation, with the fair running efficiently across both days.
Officials noted that the initiative offered a platform for students to engage with contemporary scholarship and develop habits of critical reading, while also providing exposure to a variety of academic and literary genres. University representatives said the book fair underlined their commitment to creating a vibrant scholarly environment where reading, critical thinking, and lifelong learning are central to student development.
They described the event as a step toward nurturing an academic culture that values inquiry and intellectual curiosity, extending learning opportunities well beyond traditional classroom settings. By combining a rich selection of books with an accessible and engaging setup, the fair aimed to inspire students to explore ideas independently and foster a habit of reading that complements formal education.
