SUKKUR: In a recent move to address environmental concerns, the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued a stern warning to brick kiln operators in Sindh, urging them to transition to modern, eco-friendly technologies. The agency has declared that non-compliance with these new standards will result in the closure of non-compliant kilns.
The warning was part of an awareness seminar organized by SEPA Shaheed Benazirabad in collaboration with the district administration. Held at the Durbar Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, the seminar aimed to educate kiln owners on the benefits of upgrading to the modern zigzag technology, which is designed to reduce environmental impact and improve efficiency.

Additional Deputy Commissioner-1 of Shaheed Benazirabad, Nawab Sameer Laghari, and SEPA Shaheed Benazirabad Regional Incharge, Dr. Gul Ameer Sambul, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the SEPA Act 2014. Dr. Sambul reiterated that brick kilns failing to modernize their operations would face closure, with strict legal action taken against their owners under the SEPA Act 2014.
The initiative reflects SEPA’s commitment to environmental protection and regulatory enforcement. In addition to the seminar, ADC Nawab Sameer Laghari and Dr. Gul Ameer Sambul participated in a tree-planting campaign at the DC office, further underscoring the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainability in the region.
