KARACHI: A violent exchange of gunfire occurred in Karachi’s upscale Defence area, between two factions of the Bugti tribe, resulting in the deaths of six individuals and injuries to eight others. The incident took place in the vicinity of Khayaban-e-Nishat, involving two rival groups led by Fahad Bugti and Ali Haider Bugti, both connected to the family of the late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
The deceased and injured have been identified as follows:
Mehzam Bugti, age 40 (deceased)
Isa Bugti, age 35 (deceased)
Ali, age 40 (deceased)
Fahad, age 50 (deceased)
Naseem Ullah, age 35 (deceased)
Mir Ali Haider Bugti, critically injured
Qaim Ali, critically injured
The tragic event unfolded in the bustling commercial sector of Defence Phase 6, further straining the area’s security situation. Emergency services and law enforcement are actively responding to manage the aftermath and investigate the circumstances leading to this deadly confrontation.

According to DIG South Karachi, Asad Raza, the confrontation erupted around 11 PM, escalating from a long-standing feud between the two groups. The situation deteriorated when vehicles belonging to the leaders of the rival factions collided, leading to a fatal exchange of gunfire. Both leaders, Fahad Bugti and Ali Haider Bugti, were killed in the incident.
The clash, marked by intense hostility, left three members of the Fahad Bugti group and three members of the Ali Haider Bugti group dead. Additionally, eight individuals were injured in the crossfire. The deceased and the wounded have been transported to Jinnah Hospital for medical attention.
The police are investigating the incident, and security has been heightened in the area to prevent further violence. This tragic event underscores the ongoing tensions within the Bugti tribe and raises concerns about the escalation of such conflicts in urban settings.
