TASHKENT: The Second Asian Women’s Forum will be held in Bukhara from May 13 to 15, with preparations progressing under the oversight of the Organizing Committee, which met recently at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
The session was chaired by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbaeva and attended by senators, heads of relevant ministries, agency representatives, and members of non-governmental organizations.
The forum, to be held jointly with UN Women and the United Nations Population Fund, will focus on empowering women across the region in politics, the economy, healthcare, education, social protection, climate, environment, and governance. It is expected to strengthen both regional and international cooperation and facilitate the exchange of experiences among participants.
The event will also provide an opportunity to showcase reforms implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the Head of State, highlighting initiatives to support women, expand socio-economic opportunities, and improve employment, entrepreneurship, education, and social protection. Achievements in community development and tourism are also expected to feature prominently.
Particular attention will be given to the implementation of international frameworks, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the Organizing Committee meeting, participants discussed the forum’s agenda, content, and bilateral meeting arrangements with foreign delegations. Ministries and agencies were subsequently assigned specific tasks to ensure the successful execution of the forum at a high standard.
