FAISALABAD: In a dominant display of cricket, the Stallions secured a massive 133-run victory over the Lions in the Champions ODI Cup. Played at Faisalabad, the Stallions, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and posted a formidable total of 336 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Shaan Masood and Yasir Khan provided a decent start, contributing 35 runs before Yasir was dismissed for 13. Shaan followed shortly after, scoring 41 runs.

The real damage was done by Babar Azam and Tayyab Tahir, who built a superb 114-run partnership for the third wicket. Babar Azam played a fluent innings, scoring 76, while Tayyab Tahir added a solid 74 to the total. Further contributions from captain Mohammad Haris, who remained unbeaten on 55, and Hussain Talat with 50 runs helped the Stallions reach an impressive total of 336 for 5. For the Lions, Shaheen Afridi and Aamir Jamal were the standout bowlers, each taking 2 wickets, but their efforts weren’t enough to contain the Stallions’ aggressive batting. Chasing a daunting target of 337 runs, the Lions faltered as wickets tumbled at regular intervals.

Opener Imamul Haq was the only batsman to offer resistance, scoring a fighting 78 runs.  Shiroon Siraj added 28 runs, while Aamir Yamin and Shaheen Afridi chipped in with 22 runs each, but the Lions were bowled out for just 203 runs in the 40th over. On the bowling front, the Stallions’ Haris Rauf was lethal, taking 3 wickets, while Muhammad Ali and Jahandad Khan claimed 2 wickets each, sealing the comprehensive victory. With this win, the Stallions showcased their dominance in the tournament, while the Lions will need to regroup after their crushing defeat.
