KARACHI: The Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Karachi, Yang Yundong, highlighted the enduring and “ironclad” friendship between China and Pakistan at the 2026 Chinese New Year Media Reception on Thursday.
Speaking on the Year of the Horse, Yang said bilateral ties have grown stronger, more resilient, and increasingly comprehensive over time. He described the year as symbolizing vitality, determination, and success, and expressed hope that 2026 would bring progress and prosperity for both nations. He also noted ongoing cooperation in Sindh and Balochistan, citing new milestones achieved under the guidance of both countries’ leadership and the constructive role of the media.
Yang praised Pakistani journalists for promoting understanding between the two peoples, advancing China-Pakistan friendship, and supporting joint development projects. He acknowledged their coverage of China’s progress in infrastructure, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, agriculture, and modernization, as well as their participation in exchange visits to China.
Yang also pointed to 2026 as a milestone year, marking the 75th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations. He recalled Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s recent visit to China and described the bilateral friendship as a vital strategic asset, urging the media to continue promoting the vision of a China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future.
The reception featured a documentary showcasing China’s cultural heritage, technological advances, and economic growth. Senior journalists who had visited China, including Nasim Haider, Iqbal Baloch, Raja Anis, and Manzar Naqvi, shared their observations on the country’s achievements.
