DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Commissioner of Dera Division Dawood Khan met a delegation of persons with disabilities from the Deaf Welfare Association at his office in Dera Ismail Khan, where challenges faced by people with disabilities, existing facilities and welfare initiatives were discussed in detail.
During the meeting, the commissioner assured the delegation that the district administration and relevant government bodies would provide full cooperation and necessary facilities to support the welfare and well-being of persons with disabilities. The delegation welcomed him on his new posting and expressed hope that meaningful steps would be taken under his leadership to address long-standing issues.
Members of the delegation shared suggestions related to accessibility, healthcare, education, employment and social inclusion. These proposals were heard attentively, and the commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure prompt facilitation and improved coordination on matters affecting persons with disabilities.
He said the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities and the creation of a supportive and inclusive environment remained among the administration’s top priorities. He added that training programs, employment opportunities and easier access to government services would be promoted to help people with disabilities realize their full potential, while policy-level initiatives would be pursued to bring lasting improvements to their lives.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation presented goodwill gifts and reiterated its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the administration. Members expressed satisfaction over the assurances given and thanked the commissioner for his support.
