DADU: A serious incident unfolded in Bhan Syedabad during a measles vaccination campaign when a Lady Health Worker was attacked, escalating tensions in the area.
The assault occurred two days earlier, and the suspect’s initial evasion of arrest prompted the victim’s community, the Gambhir tribe, to threaten protests, including road blockades and sit-ins, demanding swift justice.
In response to the threat of unrest, Bhan Syedabad police, supported by a 15-member force, conducted an emergency joint raid in the village of Peeral Pahnor. SSP Sehwan Zafar Siddiq Changa confirmed that the main suspect, Niaz Pahnor, was arrested during the operation.
The SSP said the suspect had been taken into custody and transferred to jail, and he was scheduled to be presented in court today. Police officials added that the attack was carried out over objections to the vaccination campaign, leaving the health worker injured.
Authorities stated that a full investigation into the incident was underway and that the victim would receive comprehensive legal and protective assistance.
