SUKKUR: A female school teacher, Sadaf Hasllo, was tragically shot dead near Goth Rahuja in Qambar Shahdadkot district after allegedly rejecting a marriage proposal from a police constable, Fareed Hasllo, local authorities have confirmed. According to the police, the accused officer opened fire on the woman as she was returning home after completing her school duty. A passerby was also injured during the shooting incident.
Initial investigations suggest that the motive behind the cold-blooded murder was the teacher’s refusal to marry the policeman. Law enforcement officials have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene after the incident. The killing has sparked outrage among local residents and rights activists, who are demanding swift justice and accountability. Calls have also been made for stricter psychological assessments and disciplinary controls within the police department to prevent such incidents in the future.
The latest case adds to the growing concerns over gender-based violence and abuse of power by law enforcement personnel in rural Sindh. The police responded quickly, transferring the deceased’s body to the local hospital for medico-legal formalities. Authorities confirmed that the deceased school teacher was engaged to the accused, and the tragic incident occurred after she turned down his proposal.
The search for the killer is underway, and in a related note, police revealed that a bullet during the fire incident had also injured a local man, Mahaboob Rahooja, who was on his way.
