DABU: In Dadu, vaccinators who had been recruited during the Covid-19 pandemic staged a protest on Friday against their recent termination, urging the Sindh government to withdraw dismissal orders and reinstate all affected staff.
The demonstration, which saw participants marching from the Allama I.I. Qazi Library to the Dadu Press Club, included frontline workers such as Waheed Sheikh, Junaid Memon, Imtiaz Lashari, Muzaffar Ranjhani, and Jan Mohammad Gadhi. Protesters carried placards and banners, chanting slogans denouncing the government’s decision to end their employment contracts.
Speaking to reporters, the protesters emphasized that they had been recruited at a time when Covid-19 posed a severe threat, serving on the frontlines to deliver vaccines door to door to children and vulnerable citizens. They described their dismissal as unfair, particularly as the health department continues to face staffing shortages.
The group warned that the termination of Covid-era vaccinators risked exacerbating public health challenges and called for immediate regularization of all personnel hired during the pandemic.
They vowed to continue their demonstrations until the government reversed the dismissal orders and addressed their concerns, framing the protest as both a fight for recognition of their service and a plea to safeguard public health infrastructure.
