SUKKUR: Afshan Jamali, a female lecturer in the Education Department, was shot and killed by her husband, Imdad Jamali in a tragic incident of Karo Kari, a practice linked to honor killings, occurred in New Saeedabad, Matyari District. According to reports, the incident took place in Bakhar Jamali, where the accused shot his wife, accusing her of infidelity. Imdad later confessed, claiming that his wife had been involved in a relationship with another man, Imran Jamali.
Imdad Jamali stated that he had tried to convince her to sever ties with the other man and had even approached her parents for support, but his efforts were in vain. The local police quickly arrested the accused and recorded his confession. However, as of the latest reports, an FIR for the murder has not yet been registered, and police are awaiting further actions. Station House Officer Karam Ali Jumani confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
Afshan’s father, Haji Muhammad Jamal, who resides in Dubai, vehemently rejected the accusations made by the husband. He accused Imdad Jamali, along with the victim’s father and brother, of being responsible for Afshan’s death. He claimed that the murder was driven by greed, as Afshan had refused to hand over money to her husband.
Haji Muhammad Jamal stated that his daughter had been living in Dubai before her marriage to Imdad Jamali, a man of her own choice, and had three children with him. He emphasized that his daughter had no affair and that the accusation of infidelity was fabricated to justify the murder.
