DADU: Court coverage has been banned in Dadu following a disturbance at the district court during the hearing of a case linked to the alleged police encounter killing of Nadir Jamali. Lawyers requested the restriction, which was imposed by the Sessions Judge.
Police registered a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act against 40 people, including several journalists, sparking protests and strong criticism from media bodies. The Dadu Press Club condemned the inclusion of journalists and demanded their immediate removal from the FIR. Authorities later assured the media that their names would be excluded.
Meanwhile, the family of Nadir Jamali staged a sit-in on the Indus Highway, disrupting traffic for hours and affecting pilgrims travelling to the annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. Police arranged alternative routes to facilitate movement while protesters demanded the removal of officers allegedly involved in the incident.
