The Foreign Office has reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to advocating for a just resolution at the international level

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan at an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on August 7 in Jeddah. This critical gathering aims to address the escalating crisis in the Middle East, with particular focus on recent developments involving Hamas and Israel.

The meeting comes in the wake of the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, which has significantly heightened regional tensions. In addition, Israel’s ongoing military operations in Palestine have further intensified the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The OIC assembly seeks to coordinate a unified response among member states to tackle these urgent issues. During the meeting, Ishaq Dar is expected to express Pakistan’s profound concerns regarding the deteriorating situation in Palestine and the broader Middle Eastern conflict.

Dar’s agenda will include discussions on the pressing need for peace in Gaza and the facilitation of humanitarian aid to the besieged population. The Foreign Office has reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to advocating for a just resolution at the international level. This engagement underscores Pakistan’s dedication to utilizing diplomatic channels to address the crisis and support the Palestinian people. The emergency OIC meeting is a response to heightened instability in the region. The assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has exacerbated the situation, contributing to increased regional volatility.

Furthermore, Israel’s military actions have worsened the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, prompting urgent international intervention. The OIC’s initiative aims to foster a coordinated and unified response from member states, addressing the immediate crisis while working towards a sustainable and peaceful resolution. Pakistan’s participation in this high-level meeting reflects its commitment to international diplomacy and its ongoing support for the Palestinian cause.
