Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar calls for continued investment and support in education and humanitarian efforts

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar underscored the critical role of education in building a prosperous society during a certificate-awarding ceremony hosted by the Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association (PFOWA) on Monday. Speaking to a gathering of distinguished guests and PFOWA members, Dar emphasized the need for vigorous efforts and substantial investments in the education sector to secure a bright future for the coming generations.

In his address, Dar highlighted the current government’s commitment to education, noting that the recent fiscal budget included significant allocations aimed at enhancing the sector. He stressed that such investments would yield long-term benefits for the country. Referencing Islamic teachings, Dar reiterated the importance of education as a fundamental value, urging organizations and institutions involved in humanitarian work to also address financial, health, and educational challenges faced by the populace.

Dar praised PFOWA for its dedicated contributions to public welfare, commending the organization for its efforts in supporting students pursuing higher education. He noted that PFOWA had been instrumental in providing scholarships for Master’s degrees and PhDs, as well as supporting students with stationery, school bags, and financial aid for widows and minorities. The Association’s involvement in aiding areas affected by natural calamities was also highlighted as a commendable example of humanitarian service.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the supportive and family-like environment within the ministry, which he said reflects a strong commitment to community service. He also shared that in 2020, he established two organizations focused on supporting orphans and providing educational and health assistance. These initiatives are currently benefiting around 100 children and aim to extend further support in the future.

Dar’s remarks at the ceremony underscored the pivotal role of education and humanitarian efforts in fostering a more equitable and prosperous society. His call for continued support and investment in these areas resonates with the broader goals of ensuring that future generations have the resources and opportunities needed to thrive.
