KARACHI: In a pivotal move to enhance the fight against polio, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Central Taha Saleem inaugurated the September 2024 Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs) with a personal commitment to the cause. DC Saleem took an active role in the campaign by administering polio drops to children under the age of five, underscoring the critical importance of vaccination in the effort to eradicate the disease.

The inauguration ceremony was a high-profile event aimed at galvanizing community support for the immunization campaign. DC Saleem praised the dedication of the polio workers who are instrumental in delivering the vaccine to every child in the region. He acknowledged their relentless efforts and highlighted their role as the frontline warriors in the battle against polio.

During his address, Saleem called on the community to support the campaign wholeheartedly. He stressed the importance of vaccinating children through both door-to-door visits by vaccination teams and at fixed or transit vaccination sites. “Only the anti-polio vaccination—consisting of two drops—is our reliable weapon against polio,” Saleem declared. “It is crucial for every parent to ensure their child receives this vaccine to help eradicate this disease from our beloved country.”
This campaign aims to immunize all children under five years old, contributing to the broader goal of achieving a polio-free nation. The initiative represents a significant step forward in ensuring that no child is left unprotected against this debilitating disease. As the campaign progresses, officials and health workers will continue to engage with communities to maximize coverage and address any challenges that may arise. The collective effort of the government, healthcare providers, and the community is crucial in achieving the objective of a polio-free future.
