KARACHI: The 52nd annual Urs of the renowned Sufi poet and devoted admirer of the Prophet, Hazrat Behzad Lakhnavi, was observed with deep religious devotion at Astana-e-Aliya Khanqah Behzadiya. A large number of devotees and visitors gathered at the shrine to pay tribute to the revered spiritual figure and to remember his contributions to Sufi thought and devotional poetry.
The ceremonies began with the traditional ritual of washing the saint’s shrine. Devotees participated in the solemn act with reverence, reflecting the enduring spiritual bond between the followers and the saint whose teachings continue to inspire many across generations. The ritual was followed by a gathering dedicated to the recitation of Naat, in which poets and devotees offered praise to the Prophet in an atmosphere filled with spiritual reflection.
The Urs program was held under the supervision of Pir Syed Afzal Anwar Mian Qadri, who oversaw the arrangements and welcomed visitors arriving from different areas to take part in the commemorations. The event drew a diverse crowd of followers, scholars and admirers of Sufi traditions who came together to honor the legacy of Hazrat Behzad Lakhnavi and to reflect on the message of love, humility and devotion associated with his teachings.
Speaking on the occasion, Matloob Behzad, a member of the saint’s family, said that the teachings of their forefathers continued to serve as a guiding light for followers seeking spiritual fulfilment. He emphasized that the message of the saint was rooted in compassion, humility and service to humanity.
