DHAKA: Bangladesh has imposed a ban on Indian carrier SpiceJet, barring the airline from using its airspace and airports from 19 February 2026, in response to years of unpaid fees.
Reports in local media indicated that SpiceJet owes the country nearly 42 crore Indian rupees, equivalent to over $5 million, covering navigation, landing, parking, and other airport-related charges.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) confirmed that, under the new restrictions, no SpiceJet flights will be permitted to enter Bangladeshi airspace or land at any airport within the country.
The decision underscores mounting pressure on airlines across the region to settle long-standing international aviation debts, a challenge that has increasingly strained relations between carriers and regulatory authorities in South Asia.
