SUKKUR: A significant dialogue on “Interfaith Harmony and Peacebuilding” was organized by the Youth Assembly at the Students Societies Center of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur. The event aimed to promote tolerance, unity, and peaceful coexistence, gathering academics, students, and religious leaders to discuss the importance of peace in a diverse society.

Prof. Dr. Amir Hussain Shar, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, presided over the dialogue on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. In his opening remarks, Dr. Shar emphasized the need to treat everyone with equality and respect, irrespective of their religious backgrounds. “God created humans to live peacefully on this land and to care for each other,” he stated. He further advocated for integrating peace and tolerance courses into educational institutions and praised Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Incharge of the Students Societies Center, and his team for organizing such an impactful seminar.

Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ali Raesi, a Postdoctoral Fellow at Karachi University, highlighted the universal message of peace in the Quran, urging the university’s youth to play a crucial role in spreading these values. He called for more dialogues and seminars to educate students on peace and tolerance.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Ex-Parliamentarian and Chairman of the Pakistan Hindu Council, addressed the gathering as the chief guest via an online video link. He expressed satisfaction with the university’s commitment to promoting peacebuilding and interfaith harmony, commending Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khush for providing platforms for meaningful dialogue.
