DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Tribute in Dera Ismail Khan recalls her struggle against dictatorship and commitment to public rights and constitutional rule.
Senior Pakistan People’s Party leader Sardar Malik Iqbal Khan Aseer has paid tribute to the late Benazir Bhutto on her death anniversary, describing her as a shining symbol of democracy, public rights and the supremacy of the constitution.
In a statement issued in Dera Ismail Khan, Aseer said Benazir Bhutto waged a long and determined struggle against dictatorship and consistently raised her voice for the people during some of the country’s most difficult periods. He said she played a historic role in putting Pakistan back on the path of constitutional governance, empowering women, politically awakening the youth and addressing the concerns of the poor and marginalised.
He said her sacrifices and relentless efforts to strengthen democracy were unforgettable, adding that her mission continued to guide the PPP’s leadership and workers. Aseer said the party remained committed to public service, national unity and the promotion of democratic values in line with Benazir Bhutto’s vision.
