DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Local officers urge tractor drivers to follow road rules and avoid overloading to prevent accidents and congestion. Traffic police in Dera Ismail Khan have launched a public awareness campaign at the start of the sugarcane crushing season, aiming to reduce road accidents and ease traffic pressure across the district.
The initiative was launched on the instructions of the district police officer, Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, with traffic officers setting up awareness activities at key entry points to the city. The campaign is being led by the deputy superintendent of traffic, Syed Chan Shah, alongside traffic incharge Qaiser Hilal, with the participation of representatives from local sugar mills.
During the drive, tractor and trolley drivers were briefed on the importance of complying with traffic laws, observing road safety measures and avoiding overloading, which is a recurring cause of accidents during the crushing season. Traffic police also placed awareness banners on tractor trolleys to spread safety messages among road users.
Police officials said drivers, in coordination with sugar mill managements, had already been given clear instructions not to overload vehicles, stressing that strict adherence to these guidelines was essential to maintain smooth traffic flow and prevent avoidable accidents during the busy season.
