ZARZIR: Iran launched a new missile strike on northern Israel, leaving dozens of people injured, according to Israeli media reports, as tensions between the two regional rivals continued to escalate.
The attack reportedly targeted the northern Israeli town of Zarzir, where a ballistic missile struck a populated area, causing multiple injuries and triggering panic among residents. Emergency services rushed to the scene soon after the explosion, treating the wounded and transferring several people to nearby hospitals for medical care. Authorities said some of the injured were in moderate condition, while others sustained minor wounds caused by debris and the blast impact.
Sirens warning of incoming missiles were heard across parts of northern Israel shortly before the strike, prompting residents to rush to shelters. Israeli emergency teams and security personnel cordoned off the affected area as rescue operations continued.
The missile attack came amid an intensifying military confrontation between the two countries. A day earlier, the Israel Defense Forces said it had carried out a series of major air strikes deep inside Iran.
In a statement, the Israeli military said fighter jets struck more than 200 targets across western and central Iran in a large-scale operation. The targets reportedly included ballistic missile launchers, air defence systems, weapons manufacturing facilities and other military infrastructure that Israel said were linked to Iran’s offensive capabilities.
According to the military, around 20 large-scale air raids were conducted during the operation, with Israeli aircraft targeting sites believed to be involved in missile production and storage.
The latest exchange of attacks has heightened fears of a wider regional conflict, as both sides continue to launch strikes and warnings of further escalation grow.
