KARACHI: Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho formally launched a 10-day special polio vaccination campaign today, administering polio drops to a child at the Sultanabad Dispensary. The inauguration was attended by Secretary of Health Rehan Baloch, Emergency Operations Center Sindh Coordinator Irshad Sodhar, and Rotary International Trustee Aziz Memon.

In her address, Dr. Pechuho urged parents not to be swayed by misinformation and to ensure their children receive polio drops and vaccines. She emphasized the importance of vaccination, stating, “Vaccines protect children from death and permanent disability.”

Irshad Sodhar echoed this sentiment, urging parents to take advantage of this month’s polio campaign to protect their children from the disease. “By administering polio drops to your children this month, you are ensuring their freedom from polio,” Sodhar remarked. He also highlighted the use of modern technology in the campaign, noting that alongside polio drops, vaccines are being administered through advanced jet injectors.

“In addition to polio drops, vaccines are being given using the latest jet injectors,” Sodhar explained. He called on religious scholars and political leaders to support the campaign by encouraging the public to vaccinate their children. “We urge the ulema and political leadership to join us in promoting vaccination and encouraging people to get their children vaccinated,” Sodhar added.
