SUKKUR: An eight-year-old girl, Joti Meghwar, lost her life after being bitten by a stray dog in a village in Sanghar, sparking alarm across the district over the rising incidence of dog attacks. The tragic death has brought renewed attention to what residents describe as a growing public safety crisis, with many expressing frustration at the lack of effective intervention.
Local inhabitants reported that Sanghar recorded more than 18,000 cases of dog bites in 2025 alone, a figure they said underscores the urgent need for action. Families living in rural communities voiced fears for children and the elderly, noting that stray dogs often roam freely in residential areas, posing an ongoing threat.
Despite the alarming statistics, citizens criticized authorities for failing to implement comprehensive measures to manage the stray dog population or provide timely medical support to victims.
