WASHINGTON: Controversial financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was involved in sexual abuse of minors and human trafficking, claimed in a newly surfaced interview that he provided funding for polio eradication campaigns in Pakistan and India.
According to British media reports, the claim emerged from recently released documents and videos. In the interview, conducted at an undisclosed location and time, Epstein referred to himself as a “first-rate sexual predator.”
When asked whether he considered himself a devil, Epstein responded that he did not have an answer but questioned why the question was being asked. The interviewer noted that Epstein exhibited all the traits associated with a devil. Epstein replied that he was not a devil and, in fact, feared one.
The interview is believed to have been conducted during Donald Trump’s first term by his then-chief strategist, Steve Bannon. Epstein defended his wealth, insisting it was not illegitimate, even though it came from advising some of the world’s “worst” individuals.
On the topic of philanthropy, Epstein claimed that he donated funds to polio campaigns in Pakistan and India. He suggested that rather than questioning whether the money should come from him, the focus should be on the mothers whose children received the vaccines and are now protected from polio.
When asked about the ethical perception of receiving funds from a criminal, Epstein argued that recipients would prioritize the welfare of their children over the source of the money, noting that every parent would likely accept the donation for their children’s benefit.
