SUKKUR: Authorities in Khairpur have taken swift action against Abdul Sattar Maitlo, a former sweeper at the District Health Office (DHO), after he was accused of illegally acquiring the service records of 52 health workers along with approximately Rs 0.8 million in cash.
The case was registered following a formal complaint lodged by Health Supervisor Feroza Lashari, who alleged that Maitlo not only unlawfully possessed these official documents and funds but also confronted her with a firearm. Lashari claimed that during the confrontation, Maitlo harassed her and threatened her life, prompting immediate police intervention.
Local police arrested Maitlo and presented him before the Second Civil Judge, who remanded him to jail pending further investigation. According to officials, Maitlo had served the Health Office in an accounting capacity for over five years before his employment was terminated by the Secretary Health.
The case has drawn attention to lapses in internal oversight within the district’s health administration, raising questions about how such substantial sums and sensitive records could be misappropriated. Authorities have pledged a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
