KARACHI: Afaq Ahmed, Chairman of the Muhajir Qaumi Movement Haqiqi (MQM-H), has strongly condemned the severe mismanagement and poor arrangements of the annual exams for classes 9 and 10. He stated that the exams scheduled to begin on April 7 cannot be accepted under any circumstances and must be postponed immediately.
Speaking to parents of affected students at his residence, Afaq Ahmed said the issue of matriculation board exams reflects not just administrative weakness but also a biased mindset. According to him, this mindset effectively deprives Karachi students of higher education and closes the doors to their future progress.
He pointed out that with only two days remaining before the exams, admit cards have not yet been issued, exam centers have not been finalized, and arrangements are incomplete. Forcing over 400,000 students to take exams under such uncertain conditions is not decision-making but government obstinacy, he said, and this obstinacy is being imposed on the children’s future, which will not be allowed.
Afaq Ahmed emphasized that the matter concerns students’ futures and cannot be sacrificed due to bureaucratic incompetence. He questioned the Sindh government and relevant authorities, asking how they expect to demonstrate performance while causing mental stress to over 400,000 students and their parents.
He warned that insisting on holding exams from April 7 would be playing with students’ futures and is unacceptable. The Sindh government must consider public demands and concerns from the education community, postpone the exams by at least one week, and issue a detailed revised schedule within the next 48 hours. In addition, all admit cards must be issued, exam centers finalized, and arrangements completed.
Afaq Ahmed stated that the matter concerns the future of children and is not an experiment. If incompetence continues, there will be no silence: parents, teachers, and students themselves will take to the streets. He reaffirmed that he stands with students and parents at all levels and will not allow anyone to jeopardize children’s futures due to administrative failures.
