DERA ISMAIL KHAN: An inquiry by the Information Department into the registration process of the Parova Press Club uncovered significant discrepancies, revealing that several individuals had falsely claimed affiliation with national and local newspapers in an attempt to present themselves as journalists.
According to the Regional Information Officer’s office, the scrutiny of registration applications showed that multiple applicants asserted links with various media houses. However, when the inquiry team contacted these outlets for verification, the organizations categorically denied any association with the individuals in question.
The investigation was led by Regional Information Officer Sanaullah Khan, who examined documents, records, and official confirmations from relevant media institutions. During the process, some individuals who had misrepresented their media affiliations allegedly attempted to pressure the inquiry team, resorting to baseless allegations and unwarranted criticism to conceal their misrepresentations.
Local journalists in Dera Ismail Khan praised Sanaullah Khan’s professionalism and transparency on social media, noting that such efforts were essential for ensuring credibility in journalism. They said evidence-based inquiries help strengthen journalistic institutions and curb the trend of fake reporting and false representation.
The Information Department reaffirmed that the registration of the Parova Press Club would proceed strictly according to official rules and regulations. Officials said only those with genuine and verifiable affiliations to media organizations would be recognised, emphasising that while the department fully supports legitimate journalists, it would not tolerate misrepresentation, fake credentials, or attempts to influence official procedures.
